Five demos. Do not take my word for it.
I invented all five of these, four businesses and one charity, so I could build the site I think each one deserves. Which also means nothing here is a client page I would have to ask permission to show you. The menus switch, the project index opens, the lookbook moves, the ledger filters, and none of it runs on JavaScript, so there is no plugin to update and nothing that can quietly break. Osteria Lume. Switch the menu.
A wood fired restaurant I invented. Dark room, short list, open late. The menu switches between Dinner, The Bar and Sunday Supper with no JavaScript behind it, so there is no plugin to update and nothing that can quietly break. That is the part worth judging.
Cedar & Stone. Open a project.
A design build home studio I invented. No motion, no tricks, just a calm, image led site that lets the work breathe. Proof I do restraint as well as I do wow.
Sable. Move the lookbook.
A shop I made up that does hair, barbering and treatments in one building, so the real problem was making three services feel like one place. The lookbook is three rooms on a rail you can swipe, click through or drive with the keyboard, and the price list under it says what everything costs before you sit down.
Bramble & Fig. Change the day.
A corner cafe I made up, all morning light and nobody hurrying you. The board has three tabs, Weekdays, Saturday and Sunday, and the list underneath swaps to that day's dishes and prices. The Long Table Breakfast only ever shows up on Saturday, which is the sort of thing a real cafe needs its site to handle.
The Bridge Fund. Six days, one at a time.
A nonprofit has a harder job than a shop. A board has to approve it, a donor has to trust it in about eight seconds, and someone having a bad week has to be able to use it on a phone. This fund answers in six days where everyone else takes six weeks, so the page is the six days: each one is a full panel that sticks while the next climbs over it, and you cannot skip one. Plain CSS, no JavaScript. The photographs are of places, never people, because an invented charity must not show you a stranger and let you assume the money reached them.
Halden. Turn it over.
Some products have to be looked at before anybody believes the price. So this one turns: scroll, and the watch rotates through a full revolution, dial to case to caseback and back again, while five things worth knowing come past as it goes. It is forty eight frames tiled into a single image and stepped by the scroll position, with no JavaScript on the page at all. If your browser cannot do it, or you have asked for less motion, the watch simply sits there face on and every fact is laid out beneath it.
