The short version
You know nonprofits. Some of them have websites that are holding them back. If you introduce one to us and they go ahead, their project gets $150 off. You do not have to sell anything, sit on a call, or manage the work. You keep your client relationship. That is the whole program.
1. Who can take part
Any professional who advises or works with nonprofit organizations: grant writers, fundraising and development consultants, fractional development staff, nonprofit consultants, donor CRM and systems consultants, nonprofit accountants and advisors, and similar. You do not need to sign up before making your first introduction.
2. What counts as a referral
An introduction to a nonprofit organization that is new to us, where either you tell us about them or they tell us you sent them. Either direction works. An email introduction, a completed referral form, or the organization naming you when they get in touch are all fine.
3. What does not count
- An organization already talking to us before your introduction
- An organization we had already contacted directly
- Your own organization, or one you control
- An introduction made without the organization's knowledge
4. Who gets credit when two people refer the same organization
The first documented introduction wins, unless the organization was already an active lead with us, in which case neither applies. We record every attribution attempt and never overwrite one silently. If it is genuinely unclear, Carson decides and tells both people what he decided.
5. The default benefit: $150 to the nonprofit
The referred organization receives a $150 Partner Credit against their project. It appears on their quote as a visible line and reduces the contract total, so it also reduces their deposit. It is not a rebate, a later reimbursement, or a cash payment to anyone.
It stacks with our standard 15% nonprofit pricing - the credit is on top of the discount, not instead of it.
6. The optional $150 payment to you
If your professional obligations permit referral compensation, you may elect to receive the $150 yourself instead of the organization receiving the credit. Only one applies per project.
Deciding whether you may accept referral compensation is yours, not ours. Some professionals are bound by codes of ethics, employment terms, or client agreements that restrict or require disclosure of compensation for recommending a vendor. We do not assess that, and we cannot advise you on it. If you choose the payment, we ask you to confirm that accepting it is permitted under your own obligations and any disclosure requirements that apply to you.
If you are unsure, take the client credit. It is the default for a reason.
7. When the benefit is earned
When the referred organization becomes a paying client and their first required payment clears. Not at introduction, not at quote, not at concept.
8. If a project is cancelled or refunded
If the project is cancelled or refunded before completion, the benefit may be withdrawn or adjusted. Where a credit has already been applied to an invoice, it is handled as part of that refund rather than clawed back separately.
9. No quota, no exclusivity, no obligation
There is no minimum. No target. No requirement to refer anyone, ever. You are free to recommend anyone else you like, including our competitors, and nothing here asks you not to.
10. We handle the website. You keep your client.
We deal directly with the organization on the website engagement only. We are not trying to take over your relationship, and we will not pitch them your services back to them. If they ask us about work that is plainly yours, we point them at you.
11. Please do not say things that are not true
Do not promise outcomes on our behalf, quote prices we have not given, guarantee results, or describe yourself as our employee, agent, or representative. You are none of those things (§13).
12. Nothing here is tied to grants
No payment or credit under this program is connected to grant applications, grant submissions, grant awards, or grant amounts - in any way. This program concerns website referrals only. That is a deliberate structural choice and it is not negotiable.
Separately: GrantSnag, which we include with nonprofit websites, supports funder research. It does not replace grant strategy, relationship-building, proposal development, or professional grant-writing services. We are not trying to automate your job.
13. The relationship
This creates no employment, agency, partnership, or joint venture. You are an independent professional. Nothing here makes either of us able to bind the other.
14. Your information
We keep what you give us - name, business email, company, website - to run the program and contact you about referrals. We do not sell or share it. Ask us to delete it and we will, though we keep the minimum record needed for any benefit already issued. Our privacy policy is at craftandsite.com/privacy.
15. Changing or ending the program
We may change or end this program at any time. Changes are not retroactive: any referral already made under these terms is honoured as they stood. You can stop at any time, for any reason, without telling us why.
